Citizens League of Montgomery County

Common Good Solutions

CLMC seeks to develop common good solutions that are the result of processes that bring together citizens and those impacted without a voice. We seek to address county challenges with no agenda, no preconceived tilt. With your help we can be an independent, thoughtful organization that develops solutions with balance. To do this our policy development teams study the facts, explore possibilities, and develop innovative and effective ways of framing and addressing policy problems.

CLMC Process

CLMC does not weigh in on every County issue solely for the sake of being heard. Simply arguing and saying 'No' is not a solution. Collectively we can develop solutions for any challenge facing our County. Member Citizens are encouraged to form policy development teams (taking on issues such as but not limited to sector plans, budgets, and County legislation) to learn, discuss and take positions on issues. The CLMC Board serves to facilitate these discussions and act when positions must be taken in a timely manner. In some cases Member Citizens may form a policy review group to review past CLMC positions for their relevance today. We hope to build a learning organization that constantly seeks opportunities for improvement. To do this we will continually question our elected officials and ourselves.
